Colchester CAMRA Cycle Tours 2009

After the successful ride to Norwich Beer Festival we just couldn't resist adding an extra tour to the excellent Harwich Beer Festival on Saturday 5 December. From Colchester we follow National Cycle Route 51, which includes an off road section along the Wivenhoe trail, to our destination in Dovercourt (approx. 23 miles).

We we will be leaving at 9.30am prompt from the Albert pub car park on Cowdray Avenue arriving at the Festival about 11.30am. Then the choice is yours. For those wanting a shorter trip there is the option of returning by train from Dovercourt Station, which is about a one minute ride from the Festival, or you can cycle back to Colchester. Estimated departure time is 2.30pm which should give you a good three hours to enjoy the Festival or, if going back by train, you can stay until the last train back to Colchester at 11.12pm if you wish.

Lights and hi-vis are essential for this tour (allegedly John Williams has a new front light that is powerful enough to light the Tendring peninsula!) and remember to go easy on those high gravity beers unless you are leaving your bike overnight and picking it up the next day.

If you need more details or would like to join us please speak to Robin Taverner or Nigel Mullender or alternatively

Future tours planned include:

See you for more trips in 2010!!

Please note: Some of the trips involve the use of trains. Due to engineering works we might switch some of the trips around but it is intended that trips will occur on the dates listed.
