Colchester CAMRA - Young Members

Hello!

Welcome to the young members section of the Colchester Campaign for real ale website.

CAMRA, the CAMpaign for Real Ale, is extremely proud of its hugely diverse membership. Around 85,000 individuals of all ages, backgrounds and both sexes enjoy their CAMRA membership. With over 6% of the total national membership being aged between 18 - 30 years old,

The Young Members Group (YMG) was formed to campaign on issues that affect Young CAMRA Members and to promote and encourage the drinking of Real Ale among young people.

Real ale is no longer seen as an 'old mans drink' and CAMRA are seeing more and more younger people joining its ranks and enjoying the varying flavours of real beer! As more of us younger bods join CAMRA it brings with it an increase in social activities and events and a chance to meet other like minded people. Whether it be at a local branch meeting, a pub crawl a brewery visit, beer festival..or even a cricket match! (any excuse for a pint )

You do not have to be a CAMRA member to come on any of our young members events so if you just fancied popping along to see what we are all about, we would love to meet you... we are a friendly bunch really!! Or if you are not a member but decide to join,there are many benefits apart from the social side.... including a free monthly magazine, free/discounted entry to many beer festivals held all around the country...including the Colchester Beer festivals. Membership for under 26 years old is hugley discounted.... at £13 a year or £11 if you chose to pay by direct debit.

Both Jon and myself are always happy to answer any questions you may have whether it be about our young members trips, real ale, or anything else CAMRA related..... (not general trivia though...we work too hard to look the answers up on google for you )
